US4HER Girls'
At us4her initiative, we aim to educate young girls about menstruation and empower them with skills and knowledge about their bodies. All over the globe, menstruation has been a taboo, women are considered unclean and excluded from the social and religious aspects of society in many cultures and not so many young women have the pleasure to enjoy themselves when menstruating, they are not allowed to go to school or church while menstruating because of how dirty they have been made to feel.
When the pandemic hit the world, both public and private institutions closed down due to CORONA VIRUS and this led to the lockdown of many countries and students were forced to go back home.
due to parents being unable to provide basic hygiene requirements such as clean water, soap and sanitary pads. The government used to give sanitary pads to girls while in school but failed to extend the services to their homes when schools closed, leaving the girls at the mercy of ‘friends with benefits.”
On the 11th of July 2021 afternoon, US4HER had a pad drive in the Kibra location, Nairobi County. It took us a month to raise donations, and plan and package the materials needed for the pad drive. Our goal was to gift 100 girls each with a care package, containing,
1. Sanitary towel 2. A bar of soap 3. Tissue Paper 4. Panties 5. Mask
The girls were very happy and thankful to friends who made donations towards the event.

This year's theme for Menstrual Hygiene Day which takes place every 28th May is ‘Action and Investment in Menstrual Hygiene and Health.”
Approximately 800 million women and girls are having their period right now, yet across the globe, they face barriers to properly managing them.
This calls for a world free of period poverty and stigma and recommits to building that future through urgent investment and a call for action.
The theme for the day was thanksgiving we requested every young girl in our groups to share their highlights on the topic and mention what they were thankful for.
US4HER GIRLS
One of them mentioned that the relationship between them and their parents have improved ever since US4HER came on board, they have learned a lot despite the pandemic and the initiative has been of much support to them and the community at large.
Our goal is to adopt 1,000 girls by the end of 2021 and this can only happen through you and I.
Join us this coming month, to help bring change, empower and inspire young girls to reach their full potential through menstruation and other educational programs.
