Breaking Barriers: Every Girl's Right to Menstrual Health in Kenya🩸

In 2019, Beatrice Koech lost her 14-year-old daughter to suicide, following an incident of period shaming. Her daughter was on her menses but did not have a sanitary pad. She was kicked out of class due to blood stains on her clothes, and the shame affected her so much that she chose to end her life.

The struggle to afford menstrual products is a crisis that affects many Kenyan women and girls, particularly those living in low-income settings. It is one that Us4Her is working to end period poverty, and shame and educate our communities on the importance of embracing menstruation.

In Kenya, the struggle to afford menstrual products is a pressing issue that disproportionately impacts women and girls, especially those residing in low-income communities. Access to sanitary towels and hygiene is often taken for granted, yet for many young girls and women, it's a luxury they can't afford.

Imagine facing the reality of not being able to afford basic menstrual products each month. For countless Kenyan women and girls, this is their harsh reality. Without access to these essential items, they face challenges attending school, engaging in daily activities, and maintaining their dignity.

As we reflect on this issue, it's crucial to recognize the urgency of addressing it. Every girl deserves the right to manage her menstrual health with dignity and without barriers. That's why initiatives like the upcoming Pad Drive in Garashi, Kilifi County, are so vital.

This week, we're excited to announce the Pad Drive in Garashi, Kilifi County, aimed at supporting girls with panties, soap, and sanitary towels to last them for the next six months. Your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of these girls, ensuring they have access to the menstrual products they need to thrive.

Together, we can break the stigma surrounding menstruation and ensure that no woman or girl is left behind due to financial constraints. Your support matters. Let's stand in solidarity with Kenyan women and girls by donating towards this crucial initiative.

Mark your calendars and join us in making a difference. Together, we can create a world where menstrual hygiene is a right, not a privilege.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
